Canon installed a RAM of 2 GB on Canon imageCLASS X C1538P. Buffered print jobs can also be stored on an integrated eMMC card. Of the 32 GB, however, only 15 GB are available as usable memory. A paper cassette for up to 550 sheets is installed as standard. This can be expanded by three more compartments with the same capacity and thus store up to 2,200 sheets dust-protected. For slightly thicker or special media, there is an open feed for up to 100 sheets. The printing mechanism corresponds to that of the multifunction variant and thus a full 38 ipm in colour, B/W – and even in duplex mode up to A4. A5 paper loaded sideways can be printed at up to 59 ipm output speed. However, A5 duplex printing “only” works in portrait format and is correspondingly slower. The native print resolution of the laser printer is 1,200 dpi. Canon recommends a monthly print volume of 2,000 to 7,500 pages. A one-off peak load can sometimes amount to 80,000 pages. The Canon imageCLASS X C1538P printer series can be connected locally via USB or in the network via WiFi or Ethernet. However, the current 5 GHz standard is not supported. However, it is possible to set up a connection spontaneously via Wifi Direct. With the predecessors, wireless printing was only possible via external solutions. The languages PCL 5, 6, Adobe Postscript 3 and the in-house UFRII are supported. PDF or XPS is mentioned when printing from USB, but not via a computer.
